The Somali Women’s Charter and the Women, Peace and Security Agenda

This document highlights that the priorities identified by women and gender champions during the Somali Women’s Convention closely reflect priorities of the Women, Peace and Security (WPS) agenda. The Somali Women’s Charter thus provide contextually relevant WPS priorities that are nationally owned, backed by significant political will and an inclusive coalition. The Charter and the corresponding action plan therefore provide a unique vehicle for the impactful and efficient follow-up on the WPS agenda in Somalia.
