The National Initiative for Social Development (2008-2012) contains provisions relating to violence against women. In particular, it mentions several international conventions including those of CEDAW and the African Charter on the Rights of Women, several awareness campaigns for combatting against Female Genital Mutilation and other violence against women which have been organized on the basis of strengthening the legal arsenal and protecting women.
